TISCO 430/BA stainless steel strip with paper interleaved, 430 small diameter stainless steel bar

ANNEALING:
Heat to 1250/1400ºF (675/760ºC) and air cool. As with type 430, do not soak at temperatures in the range of 700/1000ºF (370/525ºC) to prevent embrittlement due to precipitation of high-chromium ferrite.
This alloy cannot be hardened by heat treatment.
MACHINABILITY:
The alloy machines readily and is particularly suited to automatic screw machines.
WELDABILITY:
The alloy is not usually recommended for welding; the high sulfur content may cause hot cracking. If the material must be welded, the use of filler metal is recommended, as is minimum heat input. Post-weld annealing is recommended to restore ductility in the weld metal and the heat-affected zones.
